MISSION STATEMENT
Bucktown Academy is committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for each child in preparation for early success and school readiness. Bucktown Academy provides a learning environment that supports children to develop the strengths and skills necessary for them to construct their own knowledge and prepare them for kindergarten.
Bucktown Academy strives to create a safe and inclusive environment for all children and families. At our school we celebrate our differences, including in race, culture, ethnicity, gender expression and family structure. We believe in empowering children to embrace their identities, and our curriculum reflects this value.
VISION STATEMENT
Guided by high expectations and coupled with the knowledge that all children developmentally learn at different levels and speeds, Bucktown Academy will provide students with a broad range of educational/social emotional authentic opportunities that will help each child grow to the best of his or her abilities. We will strive to develop literacy, math, and science skills as well as provide experiences that enrich each child's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, intellectual, and creative abilities.
Children will have a safe, wholesome, nurturing educational experience, where they can be creative and discover the world around them without the pressure of high-stakes testing. Within this safe environment, children can solve social problems and express their feelings through words, art, and other creative tools. Children will be exposed to positive character lessons and experiences through the Responsive Classroom Approach to help shape them into successful members of a social world.
Parents are an integral part of the educational process. In recognition of this important role, parental involvement is actively sought, encouraged, and welcomed.
Bucktown Academy is run by a National Board Certified and former Chicago Public School teacher who can prepare students for kindergarten with the necessary skills to promote life long learning.
